(Received March 23, at 8.4 a.m.) Tho State Department announces that the United States Government will ha.ro neither official nor unofficial representation at tho Near East Conference in Paris. The United States, however, wall bo kept closely informed by its Ambassador at X > aris regarding all tho steps taken at the conference. Tho same course will ho pursued respecting tho Genoa Conference, the Ambassador at Romo reporting on tho developments. It is understood thao President Harding believes that American interests will be seriously hampered by tho fact that the United States will not bo_ represented on tho Reparations Commission, and hopes that Congress will authorise such representation. —A. and N.Z.
