MOTU RIVER MURDER
JUDGE SUMS UP TO-MORROW.! [Pee United Press Association.] GISBORXE, March 20. The Supreme Court wne occupied all this forenoon with ccnmacls' addresses. The judge will sum up to-morrow. Tho court sat till 9 o'clock on Saturday night, the principal evidence given being that of Wha.ro Hickey, undergoing a sentence, for assault with intent, who stated that Rutene Topi, when in the Gisborne Gaol awaiting trial, had admitted to him that he committed the murder. Counsel for the defence cross-examined at length, to show that witness bore a bad character, having been in gaol for various crimes eince he was eighteen years of age.
