A largo gathering of members and friends oi the Hope of Dunedin Lodge assembled at Smith's Kail last night to do lienor to Sister Gain on the occasion oi her birthday. Bro. E. South, who was in tho chair, spoke in eulogistic terms of fine esteem in which Sister Gain was held by the members and temperance workers in general Thera were representatives present from tho W.C-T/U., .Dunedin District Lodge, Hopo of Dunedin and Rescue Lddjpos, Russell Street Band of Hope, and Now Zealand Alliance. Telegrams of oong-ratnla-tions wore received from Timaru and Invercargill Templars, Tho chairman then called on. Sister Basilic, a_ very old member, to make a presentation of a handsome bag (made by a returned soldier in the hospital) to Sister Gain. Owing to tho late hour, tho chairman announced that the birthday cake presented in Sister Gain would be cut next Wednesday night.
