'llic competition, to find tho champion of champions was begun this rooming on the Otago and Caversham greens, which wore both in good order, though naturally a little heavy after the spell of wet weather.
OTAGO GREEN. —First Hound. —
E. Harraway (Dunedin) v. T. Sanders (Kailuna). This proved an interesting tight. Harraway went away with the lead, and was ‘ 5 up at ‘ the seventh head. Sanders got within 1, but the Dunedin man got a 4, and subsequently drew to 18-9 at the seventeenth head. Sanders came again with 3,4, and a singe, and was only 1 down at the twentieth. Harrawnv scored 1 in the last head, and won 19-17.
Voitch (West Harbor) v. Sloan (Green Island). Sloan led oft", and was 1 up at the eighth. Veitcli thou drew level, and, going on, was 3 up at the fourteenth. Sloan then got a 4, and once more had, 13-12. At the eighteenth head the score was 15 all, then Sloan got a single and a 4. tho game finishing at the twentieth head with 20-15 in ids favor.
Carswell (Taicri) v. Foster (Caledonian). This proved a good game until the twelfth bead. At the eleventh Foster led 9-7, then he went on with successive .scores of 2 3 1 1 and 5. Tho game finished with the nineteenth head 20-11. in Foster’:') favor.
Thomson (Caversham) v, M'Gregor (Kai■at the cutset, and at the fifth l ead was korail. 'Hie Ka-ikovai man. bolted away 11-0. Thomson then improved, ami at the eleventh head was 6 down. From that on 31‘Gregor easily maintained his lead, and finished 10 un—22-12.
M'Doii'rall (Port Chalmers! had a bye, (he Waikouaiti representative ■withdrawing.

Sloan 16 beat M'Dougall 10. Samlet's 25 beat M‘Gregor 15. Carswell 19 beat Thomson 16. Foster 16 beat Harraway 14.
This last was a ding-dong battle, tho score being 14 all with one head *o go. Thomson is out. Sloan and Foster have two lives, Sanders, M'Gregor, M'Dougall, and Carswell one life. CAVERSHAM GREEN. —First Round.—

CALEDONIAN GREEN. —Third Round.— When rain stopped play this afternoon the results were: Campbell 22 boat Yeitcli 11. Piddington 23 beat Holgate 12. Foster 18 boat Sloan 12. Carswell 19 beat Sanders 12.
RETURNED SOLDIERS v. DUNEDIN. Should to-morrow afternoon prove fine, there promises to bo a largo turnout of returned soldiers to attend the annual bowling fixture on the Dunedin Bowling Club’s green, Cumberland street.
