CANTERBURY HORSES COME SOUTH. (Special to the ‘Stab.’] CHRISTCHURCH. December 7. In addition to having four horses racing at the Auckland Racing Club’s Meeting, it is probable that Sir George Clifford will send a team south for the Dunedin Jockey Club’s summer fixture. Royal Mao is booked for iho trip to Oamaru next week. He will afterwards be meed at Wingatui and Invercargill during the holidays. According to present indications, several Riccarton stables will be represented at the Dunedin Jockey Club’s Meeting; and some, of the horses will be taken to the Waikouaiti fixture before returning home. ST. CLAIR SURD BATHING CLUB. At a committee meeting of the above club held last week it was decided to hold the formal opening of the surf bathing season at St. Clair on Saturday next. It was also decided to extend an invitation to all members of affiliated swimming clubs to make free use of the club's pavilion during the afternoon and to join in the opening splash. The beach is reported to bo in good order for surfing at present, being level and well covered with sand, and it is expected that surfing will ba largely indulged in as soon as the warn; weather sets in. THE KANGAROOS’ TOUR. LONDON, December 7. (Received December 8, at 8.50 a.m.) At League football the scores at halftime were Yorkshire 8, Australia 7. The final score was: Australia 24, Yorkshire 8. BOWLING: THE JOLLY MEMORIAL. Our Clyde correspondent telegraphs that the Jolly Memorial bowling trophy has again changed hands, Cromwell capturing it from Roxburgh yesterday.
