FREEZING OPERATIONS.
CALL FOB LABOR TO-DAY. NO RESPONSE. [Per United Press Association.] GISBORNE, November 22. Tho local freezing works were to have commenced operations this morning at the award rates prevailing last season, but there was no response to the call for labor, the men determining to await tho promulgation of the new award. The directors of tho Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ Company met, and decided to withdraw the offer of work at last year’s rates, and not to renew any offer till further notice.
