The Australians having 162 on for .three wickets, a huge score was anticipated ; but all were out by lunch, five wickets falling for 26 runs. The innings closed for 231, Tho Provinces scored rapidly at the commencement of their second venture, but Malley's “coaxcrs" induced the batsmen to attempt big hits, which proved fatal, and the last wicket fell when the total was 191. Scores; Western Provinces. First innings, 153. Second innings, 191 (Commaillo 62, Hands 40, Hearno 33). Bowling Analysis: Mailcy. six wickets for 83 runs; Ryder, three for 24. Australians. First innings, 231 (Andrews 7. Mayne 43, Pcllew 20). Bowling Analysis: Veal, three wickets for 45 runs; Reid, four for 52. ■
