[Per United Press Association.l WELLINGTON, October 14. Tho voluntary retirement is announced of Colonel R. J. Collins, Controller and Auditor-General, after fifty-six years in tho Civil Service. Ho first joined at the. New Plymouth Militia Office in July, 1865. The office of auditor-general is the only life position now on the Statute Rook of tho Dominion. [Colonel Collins, G.M.G., was Secretary to the Treasury before succeeding Mr J. K. Warburton as Controller and AuditorOoncral. He was bom in Cavan, Ireland, in 1849, a son of Captain Robert Collins, late lI.M. 57th Regiment. Colonel Collins was for many years chairman of the Now Zealand Rifle Association, and was a member of the,first Dominion bowling club.]
