PLUMBERS’ UNION

ANNUAL SMOKE CONCERT. Tho annual emoke con cert of the Dunedin Plumbers’ Industrial Union of Employers was held in tho Overseas Club room last evening, the mayor (Mr J. S. Douglas) presiding over a good attendance. After tho loyal toast had_ been honored the mayor welcomed tho visitors. Ho had received apologies for absence from Messrs T. R. Christie, J. H. Walker, Forsyth Johnson, Cameron, and Sincock, Mr C. S. Jenkins proposed the toast of “Tire Architects, Master Builders, and Allied Trades," and Messrs J. M'Cormick, A. Black, and R. S. Wardrop responded Mr J. H. Wilson proposed “ Our Visitors tho Public,” and Messrs A. Beg* and H. F. Neos, Captain Nicholas (Wellington), and Superintendent Napier (Fire Brigade) replied. Mr J. Hopcraift, in proposing the toast of “ Tho ' Master Plumbers,” said that, regarding the results of the officers of tho association had obtained during tho past years, tho public recognised the work they bad done. He complimented tire mayor and tho other officers on their work. Mr D. Scrymgeour (vioe-prosident of tho Master Plumbers’ Association) briefly responded. Mr Albert Burk proposed “Parliament, Municapal and Local Authorities, and tho Press,” and Messrs C. E. Statham, M.P., E. Kcllett, M.P., W. Bogg, J. Dove (Mayor of St. Kilda), and T. hqott (chairman of tho Technical College Board of Managers) responded. Mr W. Foster proposed tho tertst of “ Nowly-elected Officers of tho Master Plumbers’ Association,” Mr S. C. AngeD responding. During tho evening pleasing items were submitted by Messrs S. G. Angeli, 0. C, Scott, J. D. Cameron, C. Reid, W, Mills, G. Christie, Q. Dyer, Whelan, R. T. Little, Russell, Shrimpton, and the Idlers’ Quartet. Mr J. Haggitt was the accompanist.
