EVEREST EXPEDITION

A FURTHER REPORT. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, September 10. (Received September 12, at 8.45 a.m.) Reports from the, Everest expedition, dated K hart a, August 17, show that much interesting exploration work was done in the eastern valleys, seeking an approach to Mount Everest itself. One party climbed the summit of L-angmaHa (18,000 ft) and also explored a. spur opposite to Mount Everest (19,400 ft), obtaining glorious panoramic views of vast cliffs, gorges and glaciers. Tho expedition met with much flowerdecked, grassy country on the slopes. The experiences thus gained decided the loaders that it was impossible to ascend Mount Everest from tho cast, and they are now exploring the valleys around Malcolm.! and "tho Khartp.-Tsing-Po Valley, which is clothed with most, luxuriant vegetation. A feature of the district is the number of lakes. Lakes are very rare in the Himalayas.—A. and N.Z. Cabin.
