Frank Burns defeated Clahby at Sydney -Stadium on Saturday night in _tho fifteenth round for the middle-weight championship of Australia. At the Nelson Boxing Association’s tournament the special bouts resulted as follow Broughan (10.0, Blenheim) beat M’Farlane (10.0, Greymmith). Whittaker (12.10, Westport) beat M’Rae (13.4, Nelson). CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP. The Australasian Ten-mile Cross-coun-try Championship, decided at Melbourne on Saturday, was won by the New South Wales team with 55 points, Victoria being second with 52, and Queensland third with 118. The individual pricings were Kohlmaa (Victoria), 58min 56sec 1 Sheaves (N.S.W.), 58min 38sec 2 Page (Victoria), SSmin 59sec 3 COUNTY CRICKET. The match between Middlesex and the Rest of England which begins on the Oval - to-day will end the cricket season (says a London cable). HARRIERS. The St. Patrick’s Harriers ran as guests of Mrs M‘Leary and the children of Mary Sodality. The pack were under Captain Morris'and J. T. M’Donnell as deputy. The trail led along the Main road till the Mount Cargill School was reached, returning via the Great North road, finishing with a fast sprint. A musical evening then took place. Captain Morris, after thanking Mrs M’Leary and lady friends for their courtesy, took the opportunity of congratulating the winner of the Port Road Race, Bob Monaghan, who was carried shoulder-high into the hall. E. M’llroy finished fifth, and wins the medal for first novice home. PIGEON FLIGHTS. The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew a flock race on- Saturday from Christchurch, an air-line distance of 199 miles, in fair weather. The birds put up a fair velocity, the winning birds flying the distance in 4h 50im. Mr F. Wilson liberated sixty-four birds, representing eleven lofts. Result: F.
