DUNEDIN MALE CHOIR

Lovers of part singing seem to reserve a special corner of their hearts for the Male Choir. This is not a matter of surprise, for is not male voice singing (perhaps more markedly in part songs) inspiring to tiie hearer? Anyone with the least misgiving in/ this direction will have their fears dispelled once they hear the inspiriting part singing of the Dunedin Male Choir. At its concerts on Mondav and Tuesday next the choir will sing • Chadwick's thrilling Viking song, ‘l’m a Viking Bold,’ a piece that cannot fail to rouse any audience. Another soul-stirring part song is ‘The Sea Fight’ (Paliarcl). This piece is highly descriptive and virile in treatment—a tale of daring, challenge, danger, fighting, and doom. Another warlike selection is Hatton’s ‘Warriors’ Song’; bht it should also be borne in mind that there are contrasting numbers, delicate in treatment, different in theme. Tho ‘ Hymn of Faith ’ is choral in effect; whilst the humorous element is introduced into the last item on tho programme in ‘ The Frog ’ (Newton). The theme is basedon the efforts of a frog to reach the magnitude of an ox. How the frog fared is humorously told in song. The assisting artists are'Mrs Percy Rule (soprano), Miss Ivy Mazengarb (elocutionist), Mr J. A. Wallace (violinist), and Mr H. M’Allum (bass). Mr Wins. A. Martin will play Voqrich’s ‘Staccato Caprice.’. Tho box plan is open daily at The Bristol, where day sale tickets may also be obtained.
