ST, CLAIR JUMBLE SALE
FOR THE PUBLIC SCHOOL,
Residents of St. Clair and the surrounding districts are taking keen interest in tho jurablo sale which tho school committee has organised. It was opened this afternoon in the school. Mr P. J. Pncst (chairman), Mr Wm. Anderson (secretary), and all other members of the committee have busied themselves, with the assistance of past members and friends generally, in getting together a groat stock of goods of various kinds—produce and books being especially looked to —and the result is a collection of purchaseablo articles that will stand all the buying power of patrons both this afternoon and evening. Tho main object is to raise funds for the improvement of the school grounds. Tho playground in some, parts is extremely rough, being fu!l_ of largo, loose stones and quite unsuitable for games, etc. Moreover, the library is badly in need of now bonks, and the hockey and football teams require material to enable them to carry on. Tho attractions arc numerous. The. refreshment room is looked after by Miss Hoperaft and Miss Woolliams; Mcedamcs Priest, Anderson, and Ritchie, with Misses Wilson and Priest, arc attending to tho jumblo stall: Mcsdames Corson and Williamson, with Mr Campbell and tho schoolboys, serve at the produce stall; Mesdamcs Kingston and Bussell and Miss Telfer are in control of the sweets stall; the flower stall is managed by Misses M’Loan and Thomsen and Mr Macasscy; the art stall by tho schoolgirls; the shooting .gallery by Mr Jones. The sale will be continued this evening, when an entertainment will be given by Messrs 11. White, N. Wallace, and Hamilton (magicians and conjurors), Misses Andrews and Farrant, and Messrs Mulligan and Farrant (musical items). t
