CORRESPONDENCE

' MALE CHOIR CONCERT. •to the uniton Sir, —I have noticed in your columns .tiny Inst few evenings sovcrals letters all directed against the Male Choir holding its concert oil Anzac Night. In some pf these letters insinuations are made to the effect that the organisers of the concert ace neither patriotic nor loyal citizens, .and in the face of these unpleasant insinuations I wish to point out. to your readers that they are both unwarranted and, I hold, uncalled, for. I*am among the foremost in agreeing that we must honor our dear ones by holding no vulgar amusements or transacting common trade on that elate; (but what the Male Choir has to do with either I fail to see. In the first place, it was organised to educate the musical side of our life. f Tt ia not a money-grabbing organisation. The concert to be "given is quite appropriate to Iki occasion, and, considering the great amount of trouble both choir and orchestra have gone to to give us an evening of sacred music—for I hold nil music to. be sacrca I declare that instead of hindering this organisation the public should be eager to thank it for its programme. I ask what irreverence is there in attending to hear this promising programme of inspiring music? I am certain my many relatives and friends who foil on Gallipoli would be only too glad to know 1 was attending this concert, and I assure you the music I shall hear will only strengthen my great admiration for our fallen heroes. I. for one, would be very, disappointed to hear of the postponement of the concerts to a move “inappropriate ” evening. Taking this opportunity of thanking the choir in anticipation of its programme, and wishing it the highest success in giving comfort to the bereaved ones who seek it in music,— l am, etc., Mac.
