MOSS GET OUT OF HAND. LOOTING! AND WRECKING. MILAN, March 1. There were sanguinary encounters between the Nationalist and Communist factions on Sunday in many towns, especially Florence, where a bomb was thrown amidst the Carabinieri during a patriotic procession. Twenty-six were wouixled._ The Carabinieri slew the driver of a train for refusing to remove his cap as the wounded were passing, and this was the signal for savage excesses, the Nationalists looting, wrecking, and igniting the Socialists’ buildings and murdering the secretary of the Railwayman's Union. The electrical workers plunged the city in darkness, and the hotels, restaurants, and amusement houses were closed. Cavalry and armored cars patrol the streets. The students at Palermo, from the roofs of the university, rained tiles on the heads of the troops. The latter ascended the church steeple and fusd laded the students, killing six.—A. and N.Z. Cable. FLORENCE RISING SUPPRESSED. COMMUNISM~UNPOPULAR, ROME, March 1. (Received March 2, at 9.20 a.m.) The outbreak at Florence has been quelled. The Nationalists marched to the workers’ quarters. They found the Communists strongly entrenched with barricades, from behind which they bred machine guns, rifles, and revolvers. The military surrounded the whole quarter, and succeeded, after fierce fighting, in which eight deaths occurred, in destroying the barricades. They arrested 100 persons and restored calm. The Nationalists marched in procession through the streets. The populace everywhere acclaimed the military, whose behaviour was exemplary. The newspapers point out that the outbreaks were local, not general. They have reawakened everywhere the national spirit against Communism. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
