SWIMMING. MISS BLEIBTREY’S TOUR. A special meeting of the Otago Centre the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was held last evening in connection with the visit of the world’s champion lady swimmer to the Dominion in •January next. The secretarv rend, the dinerary drawn up by the SwimmingCouncil, -which fixes the dates for Dunedin as January 26 and 29, and it was issohed that, on account of these dates being too close to tlio Dominion championship meeting, which commences on Eebruary 5, the N.Z. Council bo asked if it could alter them to January 21 and 22, arranging for the champion to apGS ar . , 'I 1 Dunodin before Timaru and Christchurch. Advice was also received that Miss Bleibtrey would not appear in handicap events, and, on account of thoro being no lady swimmer in this Citv fast enough to extend her, arrangements would be made to bring down from Christchurch •uiss ohand, who is at present one of the fastest lady swimmers in Australasia. A sub-committee consisting of Mr H. Kirkwood, Mr Batchelor, and Mr W. Jenkins was appointed to make all arrangements m connectwn with the two carnivals in which Miss Bleibtrey will appear, such programme to include the Otavo Provincial Championships.
