SCHOOL VACATIONS

WAKARI. The annual break-up of the Wakari School took place yesterday, when the lower standard and infant room prizes wore distributed in the afternoon, and those for the higher standards in the evening. On both occasions there was a very largo attendance of parents, friends, and visitors. The Chairman (Mr R. S. Brown) congratulated the staff and scholars on the success that had attended their efforts during a year of exceptional difficulty. Tho pupils provided an interesting programme of recitations, songs, and dances, six selected pupils of Standard VI. giving an exhibition in mental arithmetic. Tho results were so uniformly excellent that Messrs J. Wallace and J. Horn, M.P., members of the Education Board, who wero present, gave four prizes in addition to the two given by Duncan and Simpson for this subject. Prize-list:— Standard Vl.—Dux; James Milne (medal).
