(Received December 25, at 11.40 a.m.) Giving evidence before the Agricultural Committee, Father Piggott, astronomical observer at Riverview College, explained that the time was coming when rain would be forecasted a fortnight ahead, in consequence of a recent discovery that the sun’s radiation was not constant, and that' there was a correspondence between its variations and the weather. He suggested that Australia should ‘participate in the observations being taken in North and South America and Egypt, thus completing a parallelogram. It is proposed to utilise Father Piggott’s *»sprvatory apd to obtain, the services of an expert from Washington.
