The biggest catch of herrings this searson was landed at Scarborough by the steam drifter Herring Seeker. As a result of a night's catch it had, on board 150 crans, or 130,000 herrings. They realised at auction 35s a cran. Fifty-three vessels which arrived had an average catch of 20 crans (20,000 herrings).
