COAL FROM NEW CASTLE
HEAVY SHIPMENTS ARRIVE
AT. VARIOUS DOMINION PORTS.
Large consignments of coal -reached New Zra andtn-dsy from Newcastle, which will be a welcome relief after the acute shortage of the past few weeks. Auckland is particularly fortunate, cs the bulk of the supplier totalling close on 13.000 tons, iea.hed that port this morning bv the Union steamer Kaiwana, and the two Japanese vessels, the Meikai Maru and Tensho M::vu. A shipment, of about 4.009 tons reached Port Chdmers this morning by the Slrmrhikn M:;ru while the Waitomo arrived at WeF.irgton early this morn:n? w-th a consignment of abouts.ooo tons, part of which was loaded at Port Kembl i; and the steamer Intra reached >.ew Plymouth tod iv with about 1.500 tons from' Newcastle.
Further, consignments will reach New Zealand in the course of a week or so. The Rarbeta. under charter to the Union Company, is now on her way from Newcastle to Port Chalmers , r hj a full load;" the oversea steamer Trewellard has been fixed fc> load at the New South Wales port for New Zealand ; and several other Vessels, inc'udiug Japanese, will be loading shortly for var-ous Dominion ports. » -ke Shinchiku Maru's consignment is for the local gasworks and the Railway Department, and a large portion of the Auckland shipments is consigned to the Government.
