Christchurch. —A deputation from Canterbury waited on the Prime Minister to-day and urged the need of pushing oh with the Hiley scheme for improving railway facilities at Christchurch and Lyttelton. Mr Massey said the shed at present under construction would be pushed ahead, and tho Hiley scheme would be gone on with. The scarcity of labor had been a drawback, but fortunately matters in this connection were improving, the Public Works return showing 700 or 800 more men employed than, was th< case a couple of months ago. The. truck shortage, he hoped, would be over come shortly as tho result of orders placed in England. Reef ton.—The miners on Waiuta yesterday held a stop-work meeting and unanimously resolved not to use any drill other than those oi the waiai' feed type provided under the Mining Amendment. Act.
