RIFLE SHOOTING
THE AUSTRALIAN MEETING. A send-off' arranged by tbe New Zealand _Riflo Club Executive, was given at Wellington yesterday afternoon to Major V. Dunne (commander) and members of the New Zealand rifle team, who will leave by the Moana to-day for Sydney in order to take part in the New South Wales and Victorian rifle meetings. At tho latter meeting, on November 6, the team null participate in the Empire Rifle Match with British and Australian teams. The members of the team are as follow ; —Riflemen R. J. King (Opaki), F. Bolton (Opaki), D. Guney (Petone), R. C. Ranlde (Wellington Suburbs) D. Roots (Hawera) W. Williams (Ohura). Riflemen- W. N. Masefield (Marlborough), H. V. Croxton (Karori), and W. West (Blenheim), .who have been competing at tho Bisley meeting, will join the team when they arrive in Australia. The chairman of the gathering mentioned that six members of the team were returned soldiers, and the commander was a South African veteran. It was the first New Zealand representative team that consisted wholly of married men. Considering, the good shooting that the New Zealanders had done at Bisley, and the strength of tho team, they had some excuse tor hoping that the team would give a good account of themselves in Australia.
