THE PORT NAPIER. • Tho local agents for the C. and D. Line advise that the steamer Port- Napier is to leave Lyttelton late to-night for Dunedin. She should arrive here to-morrow afternoon, and will berth at the Victoria wharf to discharge a large quantity of general cargo and case oil from New York. INDUNA WITH HARDWOOD. Cable advice has been received stating that the steamer Indnna left Bumie (Tasmania) on Monday last direct for Dunedin with a cargo consisting of 250,000 ft of hardwood. The vessel is duo here on Sunday, and after discharge will load general cargo for Greymouth. " PALOONA FROM MELBOURNE. The Union Company’s steamer Paloona arrived at Bluff last night from Melbourne with mails, passengers, and general cargo. The vessel was to sail this afternoon for Dunedin, where she should arrive to-mor-row morning. The Palona is timed to leave here on Saturday afternoon for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Melbourne. TOFUA AT SAN FRANCISCO. Cable advice received % the Union Company states that the mail steamer Tofua arrived at San Francisco at 11 a.m. on Sunday last from .Wellington via Rarotonga and Papeete. She is timed to sail on the return voyage on October 18. MEN AFLOAT AND ASHORE. Mr W. C. H. Watt, late second officer of the Monowai, has joined the Kurow in a similar capacity, relieving Mr J. E. Warwick, who has come ashore on holiday leave. Mr L. G. Ramsay, third officer of the Komata, has transferred to the Kanna in a similar capacity. Mr H. J. Clare has been appointed second officer of the Kaituna, relieving Mr H. R. Young, who has come ashore for instructions. Mr A. W. Beardsall has been appointed chief officer of the Kowhai temporarily, relieving Mr N. W, B. Haszard, who has come ashore on sick leave. Air E. Sutherland has joined the Arahura as third officer, relieving Mr R. Clark, who has come ashore for orders. THE POET NICHOLSON. The C. and D. Line have received cable advice that the Port - Nicholson sailed from London on October 8 for Melbourne. Hobart, Sydney) Auckland, Napier, and Wellington.
