At a sitting of the Police Court this afternoon Charles Marshall Fyfe was charged with the theft of a dinghy and two oars, valued at £5, the property of the Salvation Army. He was convicted and admitted to probation for a term i»f two years, a condition being that he abstained from- liquor and dmge, and paid the value of the articles stolen. The Misses Grey: "Oh, so glad to sec you, Mary! But we've such dreadful colds we can't kiss you, deaj. We can only shake hands." Fair Visitor: " Oh, dear, how sad! I hope you haven't got a cold, Mr Grey." "I can tell when the major has had a few." _ "How?" "By the laborious way in which lie steps over a burnt match, on tha sidewalk."
