. B"* °° a * trimmers at Newcastle are initiating harassing strikes against overseas vessels. It is understood that the idea was evolved at the recent transport conference. The trimmers notify agents that they will work interstate vessels and those not engaging labor at the Employment Bureau,. in preference to overseas vessels. Furthermore, they will work only till 4 p.m. on oversea vessels. The island steamers are already considerably inconvenienced.
The municipal employees are on 6trik© at Broken Hill for increased wages. Th« sanitary question is causing anxiety. The gas employees are also out, and Brokea Hill is in darkness. Many industries are affected.
PEETH, October 13. The Westralian Legislative Council read a _ second time a Bill which has been reintroduced enabling women to qualify to sit in Parliament.
