1 Woollen Protection of Scottish Tweed Industry To protect the public and the Scottish Tweed industry against imitative and adulterated materials, and as a check on Profiteering in the Woollen Trade (including the sale of inferior materials at exorbitant prices), thirty-eight leading manufacturers in Scotland have formed The Scottish Woollen Trade Mark Association Limited This Association has been formed with the sanction and approval of H.M. Board of Trade. It is limited by guarantee and is not trading for profit. The Association's Trade Mark S^H22 SCOTTIStf WOOLLEN 5W$ is lightly impressed on the reverse side of materials for Men's Suits or Overcoats and Ladies' Costumes, and it guarantees under Articles of Association approved by H.M. Board of Trade that the said materials are manufactured in Scotland of Pure New Wool, without cotton, vegetable fibre, shoddy, or re-manufactured wool, or any other admixture whatever, except when silk is used for decorative purposes. The Scottish Woollen Tfade Mark Association is not a trading company, does not fix nor control prices, and is in no sense a "combine" or ""trust," but an Association for mutual protection. A strong Educational Campaign in the newspaper press is being ananged, in order to familiarise the people of New Zealand with the merits of Scotch Tweed, and the aims of the Association in protecting the tailoring trade and the public. In the meantime, Tweed-buyers are recommended to gel in touch with any of the firms enumerated below. Many Scotch Tweed manufacturers are not yet represented in New Zeabnd, therefore Indentors, Agents, and Merchants are urged to avail themselves or this opportunity. On& of the Directors of the Association, MR. W. THOW MUNRO is now in New Zealand, and interviews with him may be arranged care The Charles Haines Advertising Agency Ltd., The Dalgety Building, Wellington.
