ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
TIRST GRADE. All grade matches in Dunedin were postponed on Saturday on account of bad weather. —Kaitafagata v. Northern.— Northern journeyed to Kaitangata on Saturday to play the local toam. Although, the ball and ground were both slippery the game was closely contested throughout, -The visitors played against the wind the first half, mid did good work, very nearly on several occasions. Thomson" Kaitaugata's left wing, was prominent m several fine runs, but tho local men could rot get past Jamieson, Northerns guardian. There was no score at half-time. Northern's chances in t!io_ second *pcll were much favored, but Kaitaugata's forwards proved too fast for the visitors' rearguard. Strom a miskick by one of the latter Pret.cott scored the first coal, and shortly after added another for his side by beating Janfieson with a good shot. Northern continued to put up a good game, but could not break through, and a very even game ended in Kaitangata by 2 goals to nil. Mr W. Fleming was referee.
