GENERAL BIRDWOOD'S VISIT
NOT DUB TILL JUNE 11. MANUKA DELAYED AT SYDNEY. General Birdwood was duo at Dunedin next Saturday night, but owing to the Manuka leaving Sydney late—at noon on Saturday—his whole programme has been disturbed, and the last advice from the Department of Internal Affairs is that ho will arrive in Dunedin at 9.25 p.m. on Friday, June 11, leaving for Invercargill on Tuesday, June 15. It was arranged at a meeting of the Reception Committee on Saturday, before the news came through, that on Sunday, June 6,_ tho General should attend a service a* First Church for the consecration of the colors presented by His Majesty to the Ist, 2nd, and 3rd Battalions of tho Otatro Infantry Regiment on active service, and that the civic reception, in which the R.S.A. will take a prominent part, should be held the following evening. The committee will moot later this week to redraft arrangements in the light of the new situation.
