MINING
The superintendent of tho Talisman Mine, Karangahake, reports that No. 16 winze is down 166 ft. Assays since last report are:—At 162 ft, width of vein, 27in, average value 6s a ton; at 166 ft, width of vein 53in, average value 18s a ton. Boring operations have been delayed as it "haa been necessary to cement the upper part of the hole owing to broken ground.
