THE PRINCE OF WALES.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,—l do hope that the Chora! Societv. at the public reception to the Prince of Wales in the Drill Hall next week, can be prevailed on to give 'The Last Post' as their contribution to the programme. Both -words arid music are by Britishers, and the theme (the well-known call) is -worked out an quite a triumphant way. being in no sense a dirge. When it 'is remembered. that one of the reasons for the Prince's visit is to thank the Dominions for their war service, tho piece will be singularly appropriate, and I am sure every soldier and sailor present, both visiting and local,.will experience a thrill during the rendering of the work. We shall get enough of the lighter kind of music to make 'The Last Post' stand out by itself. I hope my suggestion is not made too late.—l am, etc., ' May 11. Bkiton. TO THE KDITC* Sir, —That was a timely letter in your paper last night about tiie route of "His Royal Highness's journey from Forbury Park to Carisbrook on Wednesday afterneon next. To my mind the alteration from Burns to Baker and Neville streets is desirable for two reasons : Firstly, the latter is the better-formed and more iidy roadway; and secondly, there are. agreater number of houses whose occupants "would like to see the Royal party. 1 hope the alteration will be made.—l am, etc., May 12. .
