Nationals and Staaeards remain firm, with little business doing. In the shipping market, Huddarts continue iq strong demand at 58a od, with sellers at 58s 6d. B. and O.s are higher in this market than in London, winch is quite unusual, the London market as a rule being about £2O higher than the colonial market. Union Steams (pref.) have good inquiry at 21s 2d. Howard Smith and Burns. Philp have also coma in for a turn of business at improved prices. In coal, Wostports stand around 32s 9d. Stocktons (ord.) have had business at 8s 9d and 8s 6d. In drapery shares Brown, Ewing and D.I.C. (ord. issues) both have good inquiry, with no sellers offering. The preferences are also without "sellers. In finance there has been a sharp rise in Wright, Stephensons (ord.), with buyers up to £9 10s. We are' unable to ascertain the cause for this sharp advance. Goldsbrough, Morts are also strong, around 50s 3d. In meat company shares N.Z. Refrigerating (paid) have had business at ols 3d, and tho cont, issue at prices ranging from 21s 3d to 29s 6d. Central Preserves are inclined to firm, buyers offering 31s 3d without attracting sellers. In woollens Mosgiels are strong, with buyers offering £6 17s. Kaiapois stand \ at about £lO, and Bruces are easier with sellers at 50s 9d. N.Z. Paper Mills have had had sales at 59s fid. N.Z. Drugs (paid) are wanted at 67s 3d without sellers, and the new issue - have buyers at 25s p. N.Z. Hardware, have had a good turnover at 17s 6d. N.Z. Express (ord.) have come in for some inquiry at 16s without sellers. In cement shares Milburns are strong, with sales at 39s 9d cum rights, the rights having business at Bs. In rubber Dominions are quiet. Papuan Products have had a good amount of business -at 2s 7d. Reports from this property appear to be Very encouraging. ‘ Daily Times ’ are wanted at 52s without sellers. Perpetual Trustees have continuous buyers at 30s. M'Gavins have had a sharp rise, buyers offering 30s, cum div., with no sellers. Eclipse Petrols ate inclined’to 'be .neglected, with occasional sellers at 38s. In war bonds-most-of - the issues stand, at about £95 and £95 ss.
