RETURNED SOLDIERS' DANCE

The first of a series' of dances organised ! bv the Social Committee of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers' Association for the entertainment of returned men and their friends during the winter period was held last evening at the Ea.rly Settlere' Hall, and passed off'most successfully. About 50 couples were present, and enjoyed themselves thoroughly. A lengthy programme of dances was gone through, and terminated in the early hours of the morning, everyone leaving with the firm intention of attending the next dance of the series to be held next month. The floor was' in good condition, and the music was supplied, by Messrs Yates and Beath, whose playing was at a high standard. Messrs E. N. Stewart and T. Drain acted as M-C-s, and Mr G. M. Smith (secretary) was also present to supervise arrangements. The catering was in the capable hands of Mr J. C. Kroon. An apologv for absence was received from the president ! of-the association (Dr T. Harrison). It is j hoped to see a still larger attendance of returned men and friends at the dance next month. •
