CIVIL SERVICE HARRIERS

ANNUAL MEETING. The 17th annual meetinjr'.of the Dunedin Civil Service Harrier and Amateur ■ Athletic Club was held in the Y.M.C.A. 'Rooms on Saturday night. The president (Mr James Wilson) was in the chair. The annual report, which was read by the chairman, stated that during the season the club had held 16 runs and six .races, and attendance badges were won by D. C. Lister, G. Kennedy, and J. K. Henderson. A team from the club had competed in the Five-mile Cross-country Championship of Otago, and three of the team filled the first three places in the race. During the year the club had decided to open their ranks to persons other than members of the Public Service. Unfortunately a start had not yet been made to have the names of past and present members who took part in the Great War placed permanently on the roll of honor; but it was hoped to start same at an early date/ The thanks of the club were due to the president, vice-presidents, Forbury Part Trotting Club for the use of their ground, and to landowners over whose ground trails were laid. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report, said, considering so many members had been away, the club had done remarkably well. It was pleasing to know that their finances were in a satisfactory condition. This was largelydue to.their energetic secretary (Mr J. Hoy). He thought they should have more social evenings—two or three times a year, at least. The motion was seconded and carried without discission. The balance-sheet, which showed a credit of £l4 8s 3d, was approved of and adopted. ■A. letter was received from the Otago Centre of the Athletic Association stating that the opening run of the harrier season would .be on Saturday, 17th April, start-

ing at the Caversham Public School at 3 p.m.—Received. ,
