COOKED FOOD DELIVERY.

TO THE EDITOP, ‘‘'i 1 ') —I 'was very much interested in two letters in Saturday and to-niglit’s ‘Star,’ hy_ “Interested” and “Mother.” I quite agree with these writers. I cannot see that a cooked dinner at Is 5d a head bo any help to poor overworked mothers, as so few of them could afford to pay that sum for a family. The only class I can see that the communal kitchen would help would bo the rich and those who are too mean tn give anything awav. What would people do- if they had just sufficient brought to them for their own family and an unexpected guest arrived? It would seem to me such a poor state of affairs to have nothing to offer a visitor. I think many homos would be happier if the young wives would give more time to cooking proper meals for their husbands and spending less time and money on pleasure and dross,—l am, etc., Or.D-:'Asmo-\i:D Mother. March 22. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I was pleased to road the explanations contained in Mrs Leech's letter. I hope that neither she nor the others of the committee will he running away with the idea that they are establishing a kitchen such as other communal kitchens, tor this venture is for one class only. Paring war times communal kitchens were placed all over London bv the rich, and these kitchens were for all classes. Who are having large families? The middle class and the poor, and they ccrtair.lv cannot afford la 6d a person for ono dinner, nor do .they want conked dinners. They are quite happy to cook their own dinner. It is a house they want. If premises can be got for a daily cooked feed delivery surely buildings car. he altered tn house the, people of this town.—l am, etc.. M. R. H. Martin. March 26.
