DinSTEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. - THE WEEK'S BUSTNIESS, The market -generally firm, but t3ware is a slight inclinatMn to caSi-ia soiae stocks. In the mining section there has been a slight drop in Waihis, which are now quoted in the vicinity of 40s 6d. The fall is stated to be caused by the uncertainty of the attitude the miners will take up. The reports from the mine itself are very satisfactory. Junctions and Talismans are also easier* Mount Lyells are in the vicinity of 25s Bd<, In investments, Union Banks have had a ehatp rise, with eaks in the north as bfch as £l3 12s 6d. New South Wales are firm around £36, and Nationals about £8 15s, New Zealands, both issues, have good inquiry. In insurance shares, Nationals stand about 80s, NeVZealands have dropped back to 335, South British are firm with sales at £9 10s, and Standards are quoted at about 6Ss. In, shipping shares a good amount of business has been done in Hud-darts, which are now quoted ex div., and were wanted this morning at 52s 6d, with a seller at 55s 3d. P. and O.s are inclined to firm slightly, end are quoted at £58,0 buyer. £585 seller. West-port Coals have had sales at 33s and 32s lOd, and Stocktons at 8s 4d and 8s sd. In cement 6bares Milburns are strong, with buyers at 36s Gd, and Wilsons at "i6s sd. In rubber Dominions aire quoted ex div., with sellers at. 445. N.Z. Maiav (ord.) hays had ealcs up to 275. In woollen shaves Mosgieis are nrm, with buyers at- £G 15s. Ivaiapois have had sales at £lO, and Braces are mclmed to ease, with sellers at 51s 6d. !& meat company shades, Refrigerators remain firm at about last week's prices. Canterbury Meats have had a sharp rise, with sales in the north at over £l6. Otago Preserves aro firming, buyers ollering- Sis, whiiout sellers. M - Gaviu3 have had a rise, with at 28s and further buyers at 27s 9d. Whitcombe and Tombs are wanted at £7 5s cum rights. Papuan Products have had a fair amount of business on a rising market, sales! being made at 2s 6d, 2s 6;, d, and 2s 7d. N.Z. Pegjer Mills show an ncivar.ee on. last week, there being buyers at 37s 3d. N.Z. Drugs (cum div.) have buyers at- 675. and tits new issue at 27s pm. ' Iu nuance Goidsbrough-Morts are wanted at 5Qs 6d, a.n-d National Mortgages at about £6 Loan and Mereaiuiies are inclined to ease, with sellers at £ll4. Wright, Stepb-ensons are- strong, buyers offering £8 15a for the ord. issue, whilst Dalgetys have buyers at £l2 Is, without attracting a seller. N.Z. Hardwares have sellers at 18s Gd, and 'Daily Times' are sougnb for at sls. Eclipse Petrols are inclined to case, with sellers at 38s. Iu drapery shares Brown. Ewir.£B have slightly better inquiry at 26s 6d, whilst 21s od is offered for the pref. shares. D.1.0. (ord.) are wanted afc 4s pm., with buyers offering: 21a txi for the pref.
