ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIPS.
The New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, Otago Centre, held a provincial championship meeting on the Caledonian Ground this afternoon. A larger number of entries had been received than at the previous -meetinc five years ago. Though the attendance was not large, a very interestim.. afternoon's sport was witnessed. The ICOyds Championship was run off in two heats. Three entrants started in the first heat, which was won by Sumpter (University) in 11 2-Ssec, with J. H. Rule (University) second ant" E. A. Nichol (Pacific) third. In the second heat there were fivo starters. Davidson (University) won easily by about 4yds (time, 11 l-ssec), wit! W. Perry (St. Kilda) second and A. G. Lorimer (Pacific) third. The filial wa won by Sumpter, with Davidson a close second and Perry third. Tinu Usee. ■ In the One-mile Walk four started. E. Why to J, J?. M'Kes-g 2, J. Twigg 3.
