Jt was imadentally tmntionoi at the Centre Executive meeting on Monday night that 80 ri>ks had been entered for the association tournament at Cliristchurvh. The entries were .supposed to close la-t Friday, but no results have been forwarded to the Hic-s. Jlow many aie going compete in the pairs and singles we have nui the faintest idea of. Their- I is genn d interest among all hnwiers in | the irnittrr. and. finely a live body would ; keep things mowing by taking advantage I of cheap ad vert id ng. 1 Some houses can gallop in the mud, 1 but it has been proved that some bowlers ' cannot do themselves justice in manure, j I would refer doubters to the. St. Clair players. Under the impression that lli-.ue would be no game in the afternoon. Hie I St. Kilda authorities on Saturday morning i 'treated the green with a liberd dressing i of artificial manure of a virulently rual- | odorous nature. Both St. Cl:* : ■ sections lost their games, and one visitor was noticed wandering about aimlessly. Ho explained that he was looking for a,corner in 'which to be sick. A burl case of “gassing." Allnutt (for Kaikorai against Caversliam) had two heads to play when the other two rinks had finished'. The total figures were against him. and on the last head it was necessary for him to get 2 to lifer 5 for a win in Hi? section! As proof of the spoil lie is. lie lay the game (three shots) with his last bow! to go. but. instead of “playing Scotch,” ho actually drew right on to the kitty, making his seel ion 2 mi. This last howl was a beauty—on the ditch side of an end link to a long head. Clear evidence that the Cavcrshnm green was playing well. Play in the Association tournament at Christchurch starts on Thursday, January 8, with the Pairs. Ihe Rinks begin on Monday, January 12, and the Singles on Friday, January 16. A Roslyn rink who will take part comprises J. licotl, W. Xk-olson T. Coull and R. 11. Scott. An Otago Club team will be made up of Robson, Hunter, Falconer, and C. R. Smith. Tile Invercargill tournament, beginning on December 31, .should ire a good thing. Trophies valued) at £B6 are to lie competed for. Singles start on December 31. Hie Rinks on January 1, and tho Doubles on January 2. Entries’ close next Saturday with W. Leek, secretary, P.O. Box 45, Invercargill. See advertisement at head of this column. Tire Centre Executive Lave resolved to do their befit to make enjoyable the visit of Central Otago representatives, who intend to send' six rinks to Dunedin on Friday, December 26, and engage in two matches against Dunedin players on Saturday, the 27th. Several delegates paid tribute, to tlie generous manner in which the Dunedin men had been entertained bv the Central players, and it was freely recognised that the visitors should be looked after well. It was decided that the visitors should be entertained at the vaudeville show' on the Saturday night and a harbor excursion arranged l for the Sunday. Mr V. Jacobsen was appointed the local centre's representative at- the January meeting of centre delegates at Christchurch. At the meeting of the Centre Executive on 'Monday night, when the notice of motion by Mr M. Barnett that six councillors instead' of five should bo elected by each island came up for endorsement or otherwise, nobody seemed to have a clear idea. of why Mr Barnett moved as ho did, though several made a guess. Air Barnett- may be blamed for not troubling to communicate with the centres, explain" iiig his purpose. Some of Hie members present saich-'.hc mover meant the extra nomination to come only frpm the small centres, therefore it should be supported. Others were not sure what it meant. The leal idea. 1 have reason to think, is merely a matter of convenience for executive purposes. An extra councillor for each island will enable a quorum, to be obtained more easily in the centre where the headquarters are situated. But 'generally when a matter concerning the council comes before tho Centre Executive there is a. haziness that prevents a clear decision being anived at. _ Tho third and final game in the Xew ■South Males v. 'Victoria, interstate match was won by the former after a dose go. This time Staley's rink (with V. Casey "as third) went down by Four points. One correspondent said that Casey not nnlv drove destructively, but had a tine touch for tho draw. The ‘Argus' critic wrote: " The game opened badly for the home side, who lost 14 points in the first head, but thev 60011 recovered their position, and when Hie play was interuptrd- by rain and dust (at- about 14 ends) the teams were level—ol all. After the adjournment the home side draw away, and led by 77 to 68 at 20 ends. The concluding stage was noticeable for the good recovery made bv the visitor?, who by their excellent pity converted what looked like defeat into a brilliant- victory, the final scores being 95 to 84 in their favor. They wvro heartily and; deservedly congratulated on their win.”

'Uio Wellington District Executive of the Returned Soldiers' Association passed a resolution affirming that the Wellington R.S.A.. or at least a portion of it, is bringing the cause of the R.S.A. into disrepute and ridicule, and suggesting to Mr Siovwright that he should express his indignation by resigning from the R.S.A., and, if necessary, forming a new association ,
