HOWARD ELLIOTT’S CHARGE.

TO Till-: EDITOR. Sir,—l, along with others, have been waitp)£ to see whether the Rev. Howard Rhott a challenge (regarding priests and .dansfc Lrothers) would be accepted bvSir James Alien. So far Sir James has' not come_ forward, and the only conclusion intelligent people can arrive at is that the statements of Mr Elliott must he in part, n not altogether, correct. If these statements are correct, was it a fair thing that a- nian in Sir James Alien’s position should distinguish between any section of the community, while our brave boys, both Catholics and Protestants, were ‘ fightinf and falling together in their endeavor to conquer Might for Right? It- seems to me that the sooner the people kick against this kind of thing the better it- will be for New Zealand.—l am, etc., December 17. Fair Play.
