BURNSIDE STOCK SALES

This Day. According (o expectations, there were fail - yardings of all classes of stock at Burnside to-day, with the exception of pigs, (be supply of which was much below actual requirements. A good sale resulted in each department, with values for sheep somewhat lower than late ruling rates. The next sale at Burnside will be held on Tuesday, December 23. and the following sale on Wednesday, January 7. Sheep.—A good yarding, numbering 2,302 head. The. quality was fair to medium. At the commencement of the sale prices were Is below last week’s rates, but as the sale progressed values receded from 2s to 2s 6d per head below those ruling last week. The bulk of the yarding comprised shorn sheep. Prime shorn wethers made from 39s to 43 9d: • medium. 55s to 37s 6d : light and ini', finished kinds, from 30s upwards. Prime shorn ewes made from 37s to 43s 9d; medium. o2s 6d to 355; light and aged, from 26s 6d upwards. Prime woolly wethers made from 48s 9d to 55s 3d: medium. 43s to 47s 5d ; light kinds, from 38s upwards. ! Woolly ewes made from 36s to 45s per head. Spring Lambs. —The largest yarding j this season, numbering 405 head. The quality on the whole was fairly good. Competition was keen, and prices were well up to late rates, ranging from 22s to 55i per 'head. Fat Cattle. —A medium yarding, a total j . of 190 head being offered for sale. Store Cattle.—An unusually large yarding. composed mostly of young and inferior animals. This class was difficult to sell, while the better class of animals showing breeding and in a forward condition sold at values a little below late , rates. Pigs.—A medium yarding. The demand for all classes was exceptionally keen, and high prices were realised. Best baconers made from' HJd to 12£ d per lb. and best porkers from 12/, d to 14d per lb.
