Tlie Nelson police were advised on Monday that a man named Persson had been rescued by Maoris from an island near the Croixelles. Persson left West Wanganui one day last week in an oil launch! for Collingwood, but was blown out of his course. The launch, it is stated, foundered off 'the Croixelles, but Persson swam- to an island in the vicinity, where he remained without food and water for three days until rescued by the Maoris. The police communicated with th« Croixelles to see if Persson required medical attention but received a reply stating that he was being well looked after by the Maoris,
