SAlLED.—Deoomber 16. Kauri, 6.8. (12.55 p.m.), 2,853 tons, M'Lean, for Timaru. The ferry steamer Maori reached Lyttelton at 7 a.m. to-dav, after a smart trip of hours from Wellington. The Kauri completed 'discharging the Dunedin portion of her cargo of wheat from Melbourne at noon to-day, and sailed at 1 p.m. for Timaru to put out the balance. Tho Mokoia, which arrived at Wellington at S a.m. to-day from Auckland and Napier, is to sail at 10 to-night for Dunedin direct. The Arawa, which is under survey in dock at Port Chalmers, will not come out for a few dayß, as difficulty has been experienced in drawing the tail shaft. The steamer Gorala arrived at Wellington early yesterday morning from New York. After discharging a part cargo at Wellington she will proceed to Australian ports to complete discharge. A cablegram from London states that tho P. and 0. Company have decided that all new passenger steamers be fitted with oil-burning furnaces.
