Banks, of Matamata, and chairman of the Auckland Education Board, who recently announced- that ho will be a candidate for the Eotorua seat, has stated that he will stand as an Independent. . . At a meeting of Liberals held m Hastings' recently Mr Gilbert M'Kay was accepted as tho candidate- for the Hawko's Bay seat in the Liberal and Labor interests. The friends and supporters of the Hon. J, T. Paul in the Dunedin South electorate are invited to meet him at St. Kilda Town Hall to-morrow evening at 8 o'clock, and at St. Clair Presbyterian Hail on Saturday ©veninc- next at 7.30 to discuss plan of campaign r for tho coming General Election.
A Wellington telegram states that Mr E. E. Hornblow is definitely announced as the Liberal candidate for the Eden seat.
