WILL HOLMAN LAST?

Replying to allegations made against him in the New South Wales Parliament by the Premier, Mr & P. Simpson, a member of the council of the Nationalist party, said: "In a sense I feel as if I am playing, a game of 'political One skittle has already assumed a reclining position, and if it is necessary to resort to much detail I .shall be surprised if another skittle does not meet a similar fate. Thoro is no gainsaying the fact that the committee to which Mr Holman refers (the Nationalist party council committee) has for some time been desirous that his Miziistry should be reconstructed. I need not aay why—the public will form their own conc.usions. This strong fueling was communicated to Mr Holman by a member of the committee who, unfortunately, is at present away from Australia. This gentleman reported to the committee that he had seen Mr Holman, who had promised him that at the first opportunity he would endeavor to arrange for Mr Grahame's fronv the Ministry. Mr Holman will probably deny this; but it is a curious thing that this intimation, comingto the committee through the channel referred to, is somewhat consistent with the statement made by Mr Beeby in the Hou»c •to the same, or practically the eamo, effect. As I have said, I have had, no interview with Mr Holman on political matters except in the presence of the committee referred to, which is composed of a number _ of our most reputable citizens; but, if it is necessary, I will obtain from the eomnjittee a statement confirming what I have eaid in this letter."

Mr Beeby, replying to the recent criticisms by the Premier and the .Minister of Agriculture of his action in resigning from the Cabinet, said that the best answer to the whole of theae attacks was that if a Judge were appointed to hold a complete inquiry on the matters in question and reported that there was no justification in the attitude he had taken, then he was prepared to fully disappear from public life. He was also prepared to give the same undertaking as to the result of a judicial inquiry into the silo contract.
