SECONDARY SCHOOLS
-STATUS AND PAY OF TEACHERS. BIR RENNBR'S PABIPHLET ENDORSED. [Special to the 'Star.'3 OHRIBTCHUROII, July 2. The Following resolutions have be.en gassed by tho assistant teachers of tho 'bristchnrch Bays' High School:—{1) That there i-houid be a Dominion scale of salaries ; (2j that salaries should be on a pi-ofesjaional basis; (3) that the scale of salaries should be graded according to some such scale as that .■•uggeated by Mr Renner'sv pamphlet. At a meeting of assistant teachers of the Girls' High School, Christchurch, the following xesolutions were unanimously carried: —(1) That a vote of thanks be sent' to Mr Renner for his exceedingly abla pamphlet; (2) that the proposals, as in tho pamphlet, for improving the status of secondary school teachers meet with our 'hearty approval; (3) that -wo, as worn en teachers, respectfrd'y point out to tho Minister that the time has undoubtedly aivived .when equal pay EhoUkl be given for equal work in secondary schools.
