W.O.T.U.
Tire monthly ixtaetiug of tho North-east Valley branch of the W.O.T.U. was held in the Young Men’s Institute. At a meeting of the executive held previously it was decided to hold an evening meeting quarterly to enable menxbcie who are engaged during the day to attend. Judging from tho largo number who did attend, the move has proved to bo a good one. In tho absence of the president, Mrs Fomin an presided. Feeling reference wae made to the death ox Air Peart, and a vote of sympathy was passed to Mrs Peart and family; also to Mrs Sinclair, whoso husband has been called home, all standing in silence. Mrs Porriman ga-vo a very instructive address, in the course of which she urged all members to do personal weak for Christ, not only by helpiugHo remove tho greatest evil, strong drink, but by taking an active interest in any movement .pertaining to the betterment of the people. At the conclusion Mrs Porriman was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
