Foeecast. The Government Meteorologist (Rev. D. C. Bates) supplied the following at noon to-day :—‘Southerly winds, strong to gale; stormy weather; heavy showers, with hail and -sleet at times; snow ft on high country ; the weather will become very cold; barometer rising soon; sea very ' heavy; tides good. ARRIVED.—JuIy 1. Kota-re, s.s. (12.5 p.m.), 141 tons, Mumby, from Riverton. SAILED—JuIy 2. Storm, s.s. (1.25 a.m.), 405 tons, Cowan, for Wanganui via ports. The Rosamond loft Oamaru yesterday for Napier and Gisborne. From the latter port slio will proceed to Wellington to load for Napier. The Tcfua arrived at Wellington today from Dimcdin and Lyttelton. She is timed to leave Wellington on Friday for San Francisco via island ports. The bar was too rough at Wcxtpoi't for the Kokin to leave that port last night for Wellington. She was expected to sail this afternoon. Tire Kahika is expected to leave Lyttelton to-day for Timaru and Groymouth. There was a considerable sea on the Greymouth bar to-day, and a moderate fresh teas running in the river. The "weather was showery at the West Coast port, with a light northerly wind. T'h© Kittawa, which loaded a large quantity of general cargo at this port for Wellington, sailed yesterday afternoon for Timaru to lift additional cargo. After discharge at Wellington she will go to Westport to load coal for Lyttelton. The four-masted American schooner Philippine, now unloading case oil at Lyttelton, will probably. leave that, port today for Suva, where she is to load copra for San Francisco. The Scales barque Rena sailed from Wellington at 1.30 p.m. on Saturday for Nukualofa. She will load there, and then proceed to San Francisco. The Commonwealth and Dominion steamer Port Pirie, en route from London to New Zealand via Australian ports, which is expected to leave Australia for New Zealand ports at any time, was formerly known as the Star of India, and was last at Auckland under Drat name nearly five years ago, when she embarked a large number of the Main Body troops and their horses. Sire was then in company with the Wainmna, which is due at Dunedin, next weekAccording to ‘ The Times,’ Messrs Vickers, Ltd., have designed a raft ship which is to be built in British Columbia and navigated to England by way of the Panama Canal. The length is 250 ft, tht» beam 60ft, and the depth 36ft, and the vessel will cany on her one and only voyage—for she will have to be broken up in order to get at her cargo—s,oso.ooo broad feet of - timber. KAIKOUEA HOMEWARD BOUND.: Cable advice received by tho New Zealand Shipping Company states that tha liner Kiaikoura, en route f rom Weiliogtoa to London, continued her voyage from Colon on June 21. WAIMATE FOR AUSTRALIA. The New Zealand Shipping Company have (received cable advice to the effect that the steamer Waimat© left New Torjc ,ou June 21 for Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. THE SYDNEY STEAMER. . The Union Company advise that the i Manuka, which is due at Sydney to-day from Auckland, is expected to leave ifo® Now South Wales port about the end of this week with marls and passengers for New Zealand. THE CITY OF DUNKIRK. J The local agents for the City of Dunkirk advise that the vessel is expected to arrive at Dunedin to-morrow afternoon, from New York via north New Zealand ports. On arrival she will berth at the Victoria wharf to discharge 1,700 tons of American merchandise. The City of Dunkirk will afterwards go to Sydney to complete discharge. V KUMAEA TO LEAVE MONTREAL. The steamer Kumara is expected to leave Montreal some time in July with a shipment of Canadian merchandise for New Zealand and Australian ports. THE SCHOONm~MLY. The small American schooner Lily was berthed at the Victoria whssS yesterday afternoon. She had an uneventful voyage from San Francisco, which occupied 71 days. She brought over 4,300 cases of assorted oils for the Vacuum Oil Company. The Lily ie of 149 ions _ gross register, and this is, her first visit to this port. Sho was at Wellington several mouths ago, and afterwards went to the islands and then to S'an Francisco. Captain A. B. G-uhl is in command, and has a crew of six aill ‘told. The Lily is expected to sail about the end of too week for Lwvuka (Fiji), where she will load copra for San Francisco. SHIPPING DELAYED BY BAIN. All work was pradfoally at a standstill on the Dunedin waterfront to-day owing to rain. Several gangs wm-a employed in loading operations on the Mokoia this morning, but very little progress was made, and work ceased altogether before t noon. ' The Mokoia has still a large quantity of cargo to take on board, and the vessel will probably not sail until tomorrow morning for East Coast port* and Auckland. As the Cmrinna has not yet completed her loading, she will not get away until to-morrow for way ports and New Plymouth. Several hundred tons of coal have still to be landed from Hi© Rakanoa. and it will probably be BWday before she will sail for Bluff. The Stella and Put-iki have also been considerably delayed in discharging end loading operations. SHAW, SAVILL STEAMERS. The chartered steamer Bhamo, which left Wellington on May 30 for London via Suez, arrived at Rangoon on Jane. 23. The Pakelia. which, is now loading Homeward cargo at Bluff, is fixed to leave Wellington on July 10 for London via Panama. . The ex-German steamer Pnnzcssin. which arrived at Wellington on Monday with tnjops from London, is expected to sail to-day for Newcastle. She has Been fixed to load at Australian ports for Bombay and London. , , The ex-German steamer Kigoma w due at Wellington about July 14 with tootm* from London. The vessel will afterwards gn to Australia to load for Bombay and steamer Wohero ■Sjdved at Melbourne on June 28 with a draft of returned Australian troops fram, London.
