The East Coast passenger steamer Mckoia has been considerably delayed by very bad weather on the ■■ trip south this week. The vessel was originally expected to arrive at Dunedin on Sunday last, but it is doubtful as to whether she will put in an appearance, to-morrow. Tlio Mokoia arrived at Lyttelton on Tuesday afternoon from Auckland via Napier and Wellington, and has been delayed at the. Canterbury port by \-Qi-y bad weather for the past two days. No work was done on board the vessel yesterday, and - she was still idle up to no»n to-day. If her Lyttelton cargo was discharged this afternoon, it is hoped to despatch her to-night, in. which case she should arrive here to-morrow afternoon. As showing the uncertainty of shipping movements, it may be mentioned that the Mokoia was time-tabled to leave Dunedin on Tuesday last for East Coast ports and Auckland; but as a result of her unavoidable detention in the North, her departure has been further postponed until Tuesday next—a delay of exactly a week.
