In view of the extreme shortage of coal, •the Railways Department will be forced to bring a restricted timc-tablo into being early next week. It will afreet all services, suburban and main line, and will include the cancellation of the express service between all centres. The conveyance of goods will have to be limited to foodstuffs and a few essentials; Tho department has postponed action in this direction as long as possible, and the curtailed timo-table is being brought into operation with very groat reluctance. Details of the restricted service will be notified to-morrow.
