CONTROL OF PRICES
TO EIGHT THE TRUSTS. At the annual dinner last night to delegates to the South Island Dairy Association's Conference the Hon. W. 1). S. MacDonald, Minister of Agriculture, said that those who were opposed tp control erf prices might soon learn that it would 1 be necessary. He had information firom England that if we were going to fight the meat trusts with Great Britain some standins agreement would be required for the fixing of selling prices in London ; and then the trusts might be beaten on their own ground. He "hoped within the next 10 days to call the leading men of all the industries "tocether to deal with this and kindred matters that involved the prosperity of the country. The gross value of the h-uttor, cheese, etc.. was £10,000,000 per annum, and there had been sold on behalf of the producers of New Zealand £102,000.000 worth of produce in four and, a half or five years.
