MAGISTRATE'S COURT. 'Before H. Y. Widdowson, Esq., S.M.) Wilscn, Balk, and Co. v, William J. Cox (Gisborne), claim £45 12s 9d on a dishonored cheque.—Judgment for th© plaintiffs by default, with costs. A. E. Usherwood and Co. V. Joseph Clarke and Co. (Christchurchj, claim £54 2s Sd for American fine salt sold and de-livex-ed. Mr W. L. Moore appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr G. G. White for the defendants.—After evidence and argument the case was adjourned until Monday for further evidence, CITY POLICE COURT. (Before H. Y. 'Widdowson, Esq., S.M.) Drunkenness.—A first offender was fined 10s or 24 hours' imprisonment. Absconders.—Marjory Grenfell Milforrl was charged with absconding from the licensed service of John Dawson. She was further charged with stealing 10b in money, the property of Alice Dawson. — The Matron of the" Oaversham Industrial School said that the girl, when in the school, was very troublesome. She was prepared to give her another chance.—The girl was convicted on the first charge, and ordered to he returned to the school, to be dealt witli according to the regulations. On the second charge she was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence ii called on. Mareia Hewlett and Louisa, Ball were charged with absconding from tho Caversham" Industrial School. This was Hewlett's second offence. —She was ordered to be returned to the school, His Worship remarking that ho would mako a recommendation to the Minister to have, her transferred to the Mount Magdalen Home. The other girl was also ordered to he returned to the school, to be punished _ hi accordance with the regulations. Maintenance. —.John Scott was charged with, at Gisborne, failing to comply with the terms of a mainl ■•mure order, tin arrears amounting to £307 4s. Mr Irwin appeared f..r incused, and asked for a remand for a week.—A remand was granted accordingly, bail being allowed.
